This tutorial will give a brief review of the general trend of machine learning techniques. It will cover the fundamental and widely used machine learning techniques, which includes classical machine learning algorithms as well as deep neural networks. Some recent research highlights that have immediate impacts on neural network training will be discussed. The tutorial will also provide application examples in SerDes design and analysis using different machine learning approaches. Finally, the related benefit and challenges in using machine learning in link design and analysis is also identified and evaluated.
