For wireless connected electronic devices, RFI can degrade wireless performance and cause a bad user experience. A popular consume electronic device is studied. The device has multiple digital sub-systems, including CPU, DDR memory chip and Wi-Fi antennas. We proposed a dipole moment method to reduce RFI in the device without compromising signal integrity. Boards with the new design show clear RFI reduction. Nowadays, people normally use shielding can to reduce RFI, the proposed RFI mitigation method here can possibly remove the need of shielding can for some electronic products, thus enable a cost-saving possibility.


A novel RFI mitigation method is proposed and validated on a practical consume electronic device. The method can possibly be used to guide design to minimize RFI and meet wireless performance without shielding cans.
