High speed serial data transmission suffers Loss of margin as well as errors due to baseline wonder caused for example by AC coupling. A through simulation and measurement are difficult since they involve interaction between physical layer fidelity features from sub-megahertz to 10s of GHz of signal spectra, and that over very long signal sequences.
We show a method of rapid analysis of baseline wonder that very quickly spans the large frequency range required. We demonstrate this method on extreme cases of signals in PAM4 signaling, and show measurement and simulation correlation.


Simulation of baseline wonder can span the many orders of magnitude of frequency between the mega- or sub-megahertz coupling etc. effects and the 10s of gigahertz signaling. The simulation results are supported by measurements. The rapidity of the new method allows for new insights
