Standard metal roughness models were used in simulators for years. Most of them are described by a "roughness correction factor" – a real function of frequency. These models are non-causal and therefore inaccurate. Recently, causal versions of Huray and Hammerstad models have been proposed and compared [1, 2]. In this work we add causal versions of 3 other standard models: Bushminsky, Groiss, and Hemispherical, and compare them all side-by-side. When considered as complex functions, these models show more diversity and reveal new properties. We identify those making the largest contribution to internal inductance, different asymptotic at low and high frequency.
