Sleek detachable devices are the need of the hour – especially with how the world has evolved post pandemic. Remote work or remote learning is expected to be the norm for years to come as per user research studies bumping up the demand for detachable devices. While the sleekness and portability of a detachable are its greatest advantages, any design without one day battery life and best capable performance are not acceptable for the user needs. Achieving competitive audio/video collaboration experiences, immersive display experiences, razor thin bezels while ensuring seamless connectivity with wireless and cellular antennas maximizing battery life are all challenges. Achieving a sustainable device while not compromising the integrity of the sleek detachable targets requires system co-design among these domains and optimization with the right balance. This paper will cover the importance of co-design & collaboration among various cross functional domains viz., systems, PCB, high speed IO SI, PI, high speed interconnect, SI, PI, PD and battery to achieve "Sleek Detachable/Tablet devices"
The paper focusses on system co-design across system and board design, electrical challenges to achieve sleek detachable device form factor with compelling audio/video collaboration experiences, very good battery life and acceptable performance for productivity workloads
Knowledge about system design, packaging, PCB and electrical characteristics, power, performance and battery life dilemma in small devices
